Popotillo is a long-standing traditional folk art in Mexico. A bed of beeswax is placed over the wood and the images are then created by placing different hand-tinted color straws over it. The popotillo pieces are individually cut and placed one by one forming a beautiful image, These works of art are crafted by Maria Salome from Central Mexico. She is one of the foremost masters continuing this family tradition.
